CARROUSEL
BGL
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
Carrousel
Carrousel is a zany merry-go-round where grocery carts and crowd-control fences are assembled around a rotating platform to create an experience that is both playful and strange. By taking a seat in these carts, riders delight in becoming “commercial goods” in motion, propelled by human force.
Behind its festive appearance, this fairground-style work raises questions about overconsumption and the objectification of individuals: do we become what we consume? Balancing humor and social critique, BGL invites its intrepid passengers to reflect even as they have fun.
