MONUMENTAL IMPERMANENCE

This sculptural arch is covered with a haut-relief of papier-mâché baguettes. The golden work combines symbolic elements that relate to the domestic sphere, both in reference to daily bread and in the dimensions of the arch, taken directly from the ceiling and doorways in the artist’s apartment. The architectural structure slips wonderfully into the cityscape and provides an unexpected passageway.
