WONDERLAND
Alissa Bilodeau
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
WONDERLAND
Inspired by the concept of ecological habitat, Alissa Bilodeau knits biological outgrowths that seem to proliferate like ground cover with features of carnivorous plants, anemones, and mushrooms. The plush installation WONDERLAND appears to sprout from a dreamlike garden and invade the exhibition space. The tree-like structure layered with animal, plant, and aquatic textures and shapes shimmers in gleefully artificial colours. With this singular arch, the artist has created a portal that opens a breach into the imaginary.
